Home, Library, and Browse
Where your books live, and how to find the next one.
A single screen built around what you’re reading now:
- Hero card. The last thing you read or listened to, with a Resume button. Tap anywhere on the card to jump back in.
- Continue. Everything you’re partway through, mirroring your BookOrbit “Currently Reading” list. Start a queued book and it moves here on its own.
- Recently Added. The server’s newest books.
- Pull down to refresh from the server.
Customize Home (top right) lets you pick the shelves: a Finished shelf, Highly-rated unread, and shelves you point at a smart scope or collection.
The Queue
Section titled “The Queue”Your “want to read” list, read straight from your BookOrbit reading status. Queue a book on the web and it shows up here, and the other way round.
- Add or remove from any book’s ••• menu, or by long-pressing a cover.
- Start reading a queued book and it moves to Continue on its own.
- Optional auto-download keeps the oldest few queued books ready offline and cleans up after you (Settings → Downloads).
Library
Section titled “Library”Your whole library in a grid, split into Audiobooks, Books and Comics tabs.
- Sort by title or date added from the header.
- Optional series grouping collapses each series into one cover-stack tile (Settings → Reading & Library). Off by default.
- Finished books carry a green checkmark, and un-started rows in lists can show an UNREAD label. Both toggle in Appearance → Reading & Library.
- Own a title in both audio and text? The format switch on the book page flips between them.
Browse
Section titled “Browse”Your server’s collections and smart scopes.
- Group any collection or scope by series or by reading status: In Progress, Not Started, Finished. Each one remembers its choice.
- “Download All” on a smart scope subscribes to it, so new matches download on their own.
- Pull to refresh. It works offline against your last-known lists.
The book page
Section titled “The book page”One page per book, with everything you can do to it:
- Play, Read or Resume, download, and the format switch for dual-format titles.
- ••• menu. Mark as Read, Abandoned, Skimmed or Reset Progress, queue it, edit or match metadata, send it to a CrossPoint e-ink reader, delete the download.
- Edit Metadata fixes title, authors, series, year and description by hand. Match Metadata searches online providers and applies the pick, cover included.
- Chapters and a Listening Log for audiobooks, and an Up Next suggestion for series.
Search
Section titled “Search”The right-most tab searches your whole library, covers, titles and authors, across all media types at once.
The ••• tab holds the secondary destinations: Notes, Downloads, Reading Stats (your totals plus a month-by-month activity heatmap), Open Server in Browser, Settings (the gear, top right), and the Feedback & Bug Reports card at the bottom.
That card opens a Report a Problem screen. It shows a short summary of your setup, can file a GitHub report with that summary already filled in, and can share the app’s recent log lines. Nothing’s sent unless you share it. See Reporting a bug.
Home Screen widgets
Section titled “Home Screen widgets”The Continue widget shows your most recent book of any kind and opens straight to it: the reader for books and comics, the player for audiobooks. It follows your accent colour.
